Scott Bottomley Nominated for Outstanding Trustee Award at Inspire Volunteering Awards 2026

Dunblane Secretary3 Jun - 07:34

Thanks for all that you do for DSC!

We are proud to celebrate Chairman Scott Bottomley, who has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Trustee Award at tonight’s Inspire Volunteering Awards hosted by Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE).

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary year, this nomination recognises the extraordinary time, commitment, and leadership Scott has devoted to the club over many years. Scott gives countless hours every week to supporting every aspect of club life — often sacrificing evenings, weekends, and family time (sorry Cara!) to ensure opportunities continue to exist for hundreds of local players and volunteers.

The scale of Scott’s impact is reflected in the fact that the club has now outgrown existing local facilities. To ensure continued access, Scott has coordinated activity across eight different ‘home’ venues, including indoor provision for younger and older participants and travel as far as Auchterarder for some home fixtures. This complex operation is a testament to his determination that no one should miss out due to logistical barriers.

Scott is involved at every level of the club and is always available whenever challenges arise. Whether organising fixtures, supporting coaches, attending meetings, helping at fundraising events, dealing with facilities issues, supporting families, or advocating for better grassroots provision, Scott is constantly giving his time to others. His passion for football and community sport has helped create opportunities for hundreds of children, young people, adults, and families over the years.

Beyond football delivery, Scott has also ensured the club remains deeply connected to the local community through fundraising for charities including Start Up Stirling and football kit donation projects supporting communities overseas. He has also helped establish partnerships with organisations including Box Soccer and Pro-Performance Goalkeeping to provide additional specialist coaching support for young players.

Scott’s nomination is recognition not only of his exceptional governance and leadership, but also of the enormous personal commitment he gives to grassroots sport and the positive impact he has had on the health, wellbeing, and sense of community experienced by so many local families.

Everyone at DSC wishes Scott the very best of luck at tonight’s awards ceremony.
