DSC is delighted to be attending the Active Stirling Volunteer Awards 2026 tonight, where we have been shortlisted for Club of the Year, alongside our very own Stevie Birnie who has been shortlisted for Parent and Family Volunteer of the Year!

For DSC to be recognised in this category is a fantastic achievement and reflects the dedication, hard work, and countless hours put in by our incredible volunteers throughout the year.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we are proud to have grown into one of the largest grassroots football clubs in the Stirling area, supporting more than 1,400 members aged 5 to 71 across 18 footballing categories. We currently run 51 teams across children’s, youth, girls’, and adult football, creating opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy the game, stay active, and feel part of the community.

Everything we do is powered by volunteers. With 126 coaches and more than 90 team administrators giving up their time every week, we continue to provide training, matches, and opportunities for players across the local area despite increasing pressure on facilities and growing demand.

Also nominated for an award tonight is our very own Stevie Birnie. Although he may be slightly mortified by the attention, Stevie was an obvious choice for recognition. With 9 years of service across 3 age groups, Stevie first became involved with DSC when his eldest son joined the 2011 age group. Despite stepping back from coaching, Stevie has always been willing to lend a hand. He is one of our most dependable volunteers, known by many, because he is the guy to carry a ball bag, set up some goals, put an arm around that upset player, offer words of encouragement and is generally do whatever is needed. Rain, hail, or shine, Stevie is always there, somehow managing to support all three of his boys at DSC while still fitting in a day job. Thanks for all that you continue to do for DSC, Stevie!
